Tip Manual

When you take dinner in a restaurant…
Give it or leave it? Besides thanking to the waiter for the dining, you shouldn’t be gristle if the number of the ones eating with you is larger or there are many demands like “I wouldn’t like onion on this salad” or “please bring me some lemon on the codfish fillet”.
How much? 10% of the final value of the bill in case that the services are not great or the attitude of the waiter is not friendly. If it is a prestigious restaurant and the waiter is good-humored, 20% sounds good.
When you spoil yourself at a beauty salon…
Give it or leave it? It is hard to find a manicurist or a cosmetician with experience. Let’s not start talking about a hairstylist that guesses your wishes, even when they are… fuzzier.
How much? This depends on how much you are satisfied on the result, but also on the accordant time and the special products used in your “beautification” session. 15% is the best.
When you order home…
Give it or leave it? The prices of the food of many of these companies include 2-3% representing the employee’s salary, but if the food arrived earlier and it is still warm, you shouldn’t shrink from leaving some.
How much? You should keep in mind to give a round sum. For example, if you have to pay 10,50 something (Dollars, Euros or whatever), you could pay 11 or 12 depending on the money you are using. You could apply the same rule when you drive with a taxi.
When you go on vacation…
Give it or leave it? You already made the reservation in a five star hotel at the shore; you arrive to the destination, but the accommodation is not good. So, of course, you start appeal to the services of the receptionists to give you a new room. The result: they give you a new room.
How much? You should give some not more than a dollar or an euro to the chamber-maid because they clean your room every day and about 2 Euros or Dollars to the receptionists for various demands quickly resolved.
When you move out…
Give it or leave it? Just imagine what you would have done if you had to move every thing in your house. It would be a nightmare!
How much? You want speed? Be ready! You will have to pay about 2 Dollars or Euros for every person that helps you.
