Incredible Bilboa

Events. Music is in the air: until 31 of May, there is a contest in “Villa de Bilboa” where more than 40 European bands will come from all around Europe to take part in one of the biggest musical duels. After many days of contest, there will be announced the winners in pop/rock, metal, nuevas tendencias (from electro to rap and hip hop). The good news for tourists is than the concerts will take place in “Bilbo-Rock” and the entrance is free.
Shopping. People here love avant-garde shops with a mix between punk and glamor. The main shopping artery is the old city (Casco Viejo). If you are interested in the newest shoes, than you will surely find them at “d4” and “Karima” (Calle Tenderia 16). You can buy rock accessories (leather bracelets or belts) at “8” and “Calle Askao 9” (the name is also the address). You can get sexy T-shirts or printed T-shirts with various models from “Urbana”. If you are looking for something to wear at a party where you want to be noticed, you must go to “Amsterdam Plein” or “Tentacion Basic”. You also must visit Zubiarte Mall that is in the front of Guggenheim Museum.
Restaurants. On every corner you can find some delicious Pinchos at 1 euro. This is the local variant for Tapas which is made with small slices of ham or cheese, olives, scampi, fish or tortilla. With this food, you have to drink some strong red wine or a cold beer from San Miguel. Do you want to go to the best bars? Than you must go to Licenciado Poza where you can have drinks like “Poza 46” or “Busterri”. Do you want to eat something sweet? Than you must go to “Tostadero Nossibe” where they have over 30 kinds of ice-cream and some of them have aloe vera, chilli and mint.
Nightlife. In the center if Bilboa, in Plaza Federico Moyua, there is “Hotel Carlton” than stands up with its aristocratic architecture. Between the famous Guggenheim Museum and the old city, mottled “Hesperia” Hotel glitters under the sun thanks to its many overtones that hypnotize you. If you are looking only for a place to sleep and to take a shower, than “Ladero” Hotel is the best choice.
