The Lamborghini's Diablo History

The Lamborghini Diablo, the super car that gets from 0 to 60 in just 4 seconds was introduced to the public on January 20, 1990 after 4 years of design and testing. It was obvious that Diablo will take over the tradition of the Miura and the Countach.
More than 100 people had worked 24/7, more than 300 000 miles of road tests and over 10 000 hours of engine testing had been done for ensuring that Diablo is the ultimate car.
The big engine had to be adapted to the new anti-pollution regulations so it couldn’t use the old carburetors. A big hit to Lamborghini because at that time there was no commercial electronic fuel injection systems available for a 12 cylinder engine.
This important task was taken by engineer Checkorani, the head of the Lamborghini research and development department. He developed a totally new electronic fuel injection system called L.I.E., a system that can still be found in today’s Lamborghini engines.
It’s not only the speed that matter it’s the safety and endurance that makes a super car, so the engineers had to make this car safer by using special techniques in frame construction and by that, Diablo easily passed the more demanding crash tests required.
The later tests revealed that Diablo is capable to reach almost 200 mile per hour and by that the Diablo was the fastest production car in the world.
